I’ve been wanting to help solve homelessness, I just didn’t know where to start. I heard what this team is doing and knew I needed to get involved.
Enrique Laguna has been a United States Marine for nearly all of his adult life. He graduated high school in Los Angeles, CA and enlisted in the Marines at the age of 21. Between high school and enlisting, he attended Los Angeles Community College to study electronic music production and was also a local DJ. He was actually quite popular in the rave and club scenes at the time. He traveled to several areas of Los Angeles for performances. Some of these locations were in neighborhoods where he witnessed many people experiencing homelessness.
After joining the Marine Corps he was sent away from his home state both on deployments and duty stations across the country and around the world for over 12 years. Upon return, he once again noticed that his hometown and its surroundings still had a major homeless population and had more than doubled since he last was home.
While serving, he became an expert in health and fitness. He earned several certifications in weightlifting, personal and group training, swimming, and functional fitness. These skills allowed him to help hundreds of active-duty service members and their dependents from all of the different services achieve major fitness goals.
He has been married to his beautiful wife, Veronica, for 17 years and they have both been involved in the health and fitness world for over 10 years.
It has always been on his mind to one day help people dealing with homelessness. He has seen firsthand that helping them all is a huge task. so he decided to start by helping those who have served our great nation as he has done for the past 23 years. Rescue Residence is that vision and along with his friend and brother in arms Daniel Belew, he hopes that he can start making a difference and help our heroes get back on their feet and move forward in life.
